I have a 128 and use it for my live performances. I've written custom software for ableton which works "well". but I'm hoping to improve the code for the next live set or modify some new stuff that has been written. I have not compared it with the APC40 because I havn't used it.

I do use the monome for other music improvisations, particularly for ambient works or just improvising for stress releif because it becomes a no-thought instrument using the right tools.
