i've been jonezing for a mac for a while... saw this today... was wondering what you guys thought of it.
Just looking to test the osx and run my music apps reason/live on it. I'll probably get a kontrol1 along with it.
what do you guys think?
Thanks!

personally i dont trust refurbished laptops. I dunno.. laptops get tossed around quite a bit. But hey they work for some people. I would get a longer warranty tho.
The last laptop i had was a powerbook g4..um...1.25 ghz.. it worked for me and i was able to make tracks on it along with an external sound card. But towards the end, it just couldn't run as many plugins/softsynths.. dont know why. Now its just my internet surfer and serato player. It was a good workhorse while it lasted. I recently upgraded to a mac pro tower 8-core. and i haven't run out of any cpu at all.. still hovering around 10% with 3 reaktors, guru, and mulitple plugins and audiofiles playing. lovin it! :)
i got a refurb and it's perfectly fine
i've been a skeptic but they say it's had a second goin-over, if you think about it.
i havent heard of anybody having problems with a refurbed mac

fuck fuck... i'm in a tossup... i got extra money in the bank... maybe i want to get one of those new shiny ones. fuck these macs. so damn tempting and well priced!!! at first i was just going to get the cheap one... then 1 hour later i've got my card out on the table with the best new one in my cart... fuck you apple.com! wait 24 hours before buying anything that expensive. thats always a good rule to follow so you dont make a spur of the moment decision and regret it later. but either way, congrats on the Mac....love mine!

yes... i'm doing the 24 hour thing. But i do think i will stick with the original idea... of the minature white macbook for $949. Its still a great piece of hardware and when i feel more mac happy and technology is miles better than i have now i can blow 3grand on something uber sick.

yea man, that little guy is more powerful than what i have and it runs great and its 2 years old.
the best laptop ive ever had. you should try to find a black one so itll match your soundcard.
Now i want a black one to match my soundcard!! I hate you. :(
whites cool though. i'm 50/50 right now on pressing order. :D

Space Designer. 'Nuff said. Not freeware though, comes with Logic Studio.
One of the radder convolution plug-ins I've ever worked with...
Sometimes if you want something truly dope, you gotta pay for it

I buy software... But i'm not about to dish $600 for altiverb... although that whole package looks wicked... (includes speakerphone) but i was afraid i was going to have to get logic after going mac. :(

Don't be afraid... It's sick software!
Space Designer comes with the Logic package.

space designer is incredibly sick and will actually perform better than other convolution reverbs due to some special optimizations. it's also cool because you can actually design your impulse response in the plugin.
anyway here are 3 free convolution reverbs for mac:

congrats on the mac purchase!
you should open the trackpad preferences (apple menu->system preferences) and enable all the other gestures.. the 4 finger left/right swipe to switch applications is pretty dope! so is the 4-finger up/down swipe to move all the windows away to see your desktop or enable exposé. i unfortunately don't have a new-enough macbook pro to enjoy these gestures but they are totally sweet.
also a little tip on the trackpad-that-is-a-button. because it's the best multitouch trackpad on the planet right now (sorry PC users, but apple just has the best technology for multitouch right now -- read the review of the multitouch trackpad ripoff on the new HP macbook ripoff here - http://gizmodo.com/5370592/hp-envy-13-review-the-macbook-imitated-not-du...), you can use it like a normal trackpad with a button. there is no need to press with your finger that you use to move the cursor (some people feel like that's weird). if you just click the bottom with your thumb (like how you would as if there was a button and not the trackpad), with or without your index finger still on the trackpad, it works normal. the trackpad is verrrrry smart about what your intentions are. no need to throw your muscle memory out the window!
